Pache (hamstring) headed back to injured list

ATLANTA -- Braves top prospect exited Thursday afternoon’s 8-4 loss to the Blue Jays at Truist Park with right hamstring tightness. He was placed on the injured list following the game.

Pache exited after grounding out in the second inning. He didn’t show any obvious signs of discomfort as he ran down the first-base line.

This has been a rough year for Pache, who has hit .111 with a .358 OPS in 68 plate appearances. The 22-year-old center fielder ranks as baseball’s No. 11 prospect per MLB Pipeline. But while he has tremendous potential, he has shown he is not offensively ready for the Majors.

Pache was placed on the injured list after straining his left groin during an April 13 loss to the Marlins. Instead of putting him back on their active roster, the Braves optioned the rookie center fielder with the plan to have him spend time further developing with Triple-A Gwinnett.

But a few days before Gwinnett’s season began, joined fellow backup center fielder on the injured list. Inciarte will be activated prior to Friday's series opener against the Brewers.

When Pache exited on Thursday, Atlanta moved from right field to center and put in right.
