Cubs reduce spring roster to 55 players
MESA, AZ – The Chicago Cubs today sent two players to minor league camp, reducing their spring roster from 57 to 55 players.
Right-handed pitcher Casey Weathers was outrighted off the 40-man roster and assigned to minor league camp. Right-handed pitcher Esmailin Caridad, a non-roster invitee, was also assigned to minor league camp.
Chicago’s 40-man roster now stands at 39 players.
Chicago’s spring roster of 55 players consists of 25 pitchers (six non-roster invitees), six catchers (three non-roster invitees), 14 infielders (five non-roster invitees) and 10 outfielders (three non-roster invitees).
