Wrist soreness keeps Bryant out of lineup

Cubs third baseman hit by a pitch on Tuesday against Pirates

CHICAGO -- Cubs third baseman 's left wrist was sore on Wednesday after he was hit by a pitch and sustained a left wrist contusion in Tuesday night's 6-0 loss to the Pirates at Wrigley Field.
Manager Joe Maddon said Bryant's wrist wasn't as swollen as they thought it would be, but Bryant was not in the starting lineup on Wednesday.
"Just tell me what you're able to do, even if it's just to pinch-run," Maddon told Bryant on Wednesday. "It could be helpful."
On Tuesday, Bryant was hit by a pitch from Pirates starter Chris Archer in the fourth inning. Bryant initially remained in the game after being evaluated by Maddon and athletic trainer PJ Mainville before being replaced by to start the sixth.
