Bryant, Hendricks earn NL honors for August

and have been named National League Player and Pitcher of the Month, respectively, after August performances that could lead to much bigger awards for both.
Bryant had a slash line of .383/.472/.748 with 10 home runs and 22 RBIs in 27 August games. He led the NL in slugging percentage, ranked second in homers and on-base percentage, third in batting average and tied for seventh in RBIs.
The versatile Bryant, 24, entered Saturday hitting .305/.402/.586 with 36 homers and 91 RBIs. He is among the favorites for the NL Most Valuable Player Award heading into the season's final full month, which would continue a personal trend. He won the 2013 Golden Spikes Award as the nation's top collegiate player, won multiple Minor League Player of the Year awards in '14, and he was last season's NL Rookie of the Year Award winner.
Hendricks also continued his season-long dominance in August. The 26-year-old right-hander was 4-0 with a 1.28 ERA and 0.780 WHIP in six starts, including an Aug. 1 shutout against the Marlins.

Hendricks is now 13-7 with a Major League-leading 2.09 ERA in 26 games (25 starts) this season, including two complete games.
