Cubs activate INF David Bote off 10-day IL, INF Andrew Romine designated for assignment

CHICAGO – The Chicago Cubs today activated infielder David Bote off the 10-day injured list and designated infielder Andrew Romine for assignment.

Bote, 28, was placed on the 10-day injured list, August 28 (retroactive to August 26), with a right ankle sprain. This season, he has batted .202 (49-for-242) with nine doubles, eight home runs and 32 RBI in 78 games for Chicago.

In all or part of four seasons with Chicago starting in 2018, Bote owns a .230 average (196-for-854) with 38 doubles, three triples, 32 home runs and 135 RBI in 324 major league games. He was selected by the Cubs in the 18th round of the 2012 Draft out of Neosho County Community College in Chanute, Kan.

Romine, 35, has hit .183 (11-for-60) with two doubles, one home run and five RBI in 26 games for Chicago this season.
