Mike Hazen is in his fourth season as the D-backs Executive Vice President and General Manager and in this role, he oversees all baseball operations functions of the franchise. Hazen became the fifth GM in franchise history when he was named to the position on Oct. 16, 2016. During his 3 years in this role, the team has posted a 260-226 record (.535) as the organization seeks to rebuild its farm system while remaining competitive at the big league level.
Hazen joined the D-backs from the Boston Red Sox where he spent the previous 11 seasons, which included world championships in 2007 and 2013. Most recently, he served as Boston’s Sr. Vice President & General Manager following four seasons as the club’s Assistant GM.
Prior to joining the Red Sox, Hazen spent 5 seasons with the Cleveland Indians, while working in scouting and player development.
Hazen graduated from Princeton University where he played 4 years of varsity baseball and was a 2-time All-Ivy League outfielder in 1997 and 1998 before being drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 31st round of the 1998 June Draft.
He and his wife, Nicole, reside in Phoenix and have 4 sons: Charlie, John, Teddy and Sam.
