Adrian battles fan in Red Sox hat for foul ball

LOS ANGELES -- Dodgers first baseman Adrian Gonzalez once again had to deal with a fan in foul territory in order to catch a popup in Monday night's 4-1 win over the Rockies.

In the top of the fifth, Gonzalez reached over the railing in foul territory and caught Tom Murphy's popup next to a fan, who was also grabbing at it. After Gonzalez caught it, the fan -- who was wearing a Red Sox hat -- tried to take the ball from Gonzalez's glove before Gonzalez pulled it away for the out.

"If he's a Dodger fan, it's pretty ridiculous. If he's not, then it's a great play, I guess," Clayton Kershaw said.

When informed that the fan was wearing a Red Sox hat. "Yeah, well that doesn't make any sense."

The fan was booed by the Dodger Stadium crowd and he was removed from his seat once the half-inning was over.

"Now it makes sense," manger Don Mattingly joked about the fan's choice of headgear. "We got the out so I wasn't really worried about it after that."

Earlier in the year, Gonzalez was interfered with by a fan holding a baby in Chicago while playing the Cubs.
