Dodgers recall Tim Federowicz and Javy Guerra, select contract of John Ely from Albuquerque

The Los Angeles Dodgers today recalled catcher Tim Federowicz and right-handed pitcher Javy Guerra and selected the contract of right-hander John Ely from Triple-A Albuquerque. To make room on the 40-man roster, the club transferred outfielder Alfredo Silverio to the 60-day disabled list.

Ely, who will wear No. 48, was selected as the Pacific Coast League's Pitcher of the Year in addition to being named a midseason PCL All-Star and being selected to the postseason All-PCL team. The 26-year-old has a shot at winning the league's pitching Triple Crown as he's currently tied for first on the circuit with 14 wins and leads the league with a 3.20 ERA and 165 strikeouts. Ely finished the campaign on a six-game winning streak, going 6-0 with a 2.47 ERA (15 ER/54.2 IP) over his final eight starts since July 23. The Illinois native made his big league debut in 2010 and is 4-11 with a 5.35 ERA in 23 Major League games (19 starts).
