Jac Caglianone’s NCAA-record streak of nine straight games with a home run is over now, but don’t think for one second the University of Florida star is on a cold streak.

Caglianone -- a two-way star who reaches the upper 90s on the mound -- stayed red hot at the plate during Tuesday night’s home game against Stetson, a collegiate program that has produced MLB stars like Jacob deGrom and Logan Gilbert.

The junior from Tampa, Fla., ripped a pair of opposite-field solo homers for the Gators, giving him 25 on the season -- second in NCAA Division I and just one shy of Georgia star Charlie Condon. Caglianone is a top-5 prospect heading into the 2024 Draft and a candidate to be the No. 1 overall pick, with a 65 power grade on the 20-80 scale from MLB Pipeline.

Florida totaled seven home runs on the night, including one estimated at 492 feet by Brody Donay, in a 13-3 rout. (That had nothing on Caglianone's projected 516-foot blast last week, of course.)

And of course, it was Caglianone ending the night, invoking the 10-run mercy rule and ending the game with an RBI single in the seventh inning. After Tuesday’s game, the collegiate star is now hitting .410 with a ridiculous .888 slugging percentage -- not to mention his 3.86 ERA and 54 strikeouts in 44 1/3 innings on the mound.
