Marlins offer events, items in charity auction

LAS VEGAS -- A meeting with Don Mattingly, a tour of Marlins Park and a collection of Marlins game-used items are now available to bid on as part of a Major League Baseball charity auction.
For the seventh consecutive year, MLB is conducting a charity auction at the Winter Meetings, with all 30 teams participating. This year's auction supports the Jackie Robinson Foundation and the Negro Leagues Museum, two important institutions that educate future generations of young people through honoring significant moments and individuals of baseball's past.

The auction is live on MLB.com/wintermeetingsauction through Thursday at 10 p.m. ET. Items include special baseball experiences, including meetings with some of the game's biggest stars, along with unique items donated by MLB and the 30 clubs.
Among the items available in the auction:
• Meet and greet with Mattingly: The winning bid receives four tickets to The Club at Marlins Park, presented by DEX Imaging, plus four field passes to meet Mattingly and a private tour of the press box. The package also includes an autographed item.
• Assistant bat boy/girl for a 2019 Spring Training game: The winner gets the opportunity to be an assistant bat boy/girl for a mutually agreed-upon Spring Training game. The winner must be at least 16 years old and will receive a complete Marlins uniform (game hat, personalized jersey and pants). The winner's parents and siblings also will be provided field passes to watch batting practice as well as game tickets.
• Game used baseball of  vs. and : The game-used baseball of a Lee foul-tip strikeout and a Holaday walk is up for bid. This auction is hosted by the official Miami Marlins team store. Every game-used, game-worn or game-ready product has been authenticated by Major League Baseball. A portion of the proceeds from this sale will benefit the Marlins Foundation.
• Game-used locker tags: Among the tags that will be up for bidding are from players on the 2018 roster, including , , , and .
