Mets place Yoenis Céspedes on the DL

The New York Mets today announced that the club has placed outfielder Yoenis Céspedes on the 10-Day Disabled List, retroactive to May 14, with a mild strain of his right hip flexor and recalled infielder/outfielder Phillip Evans from Las Vegas (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League.

The New York Mets today announced that the club has placed outfielder Yoenis Céspedes on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to May 14, with a mild strain of his right hip flexor and recalled infielder/outfielder Phillip Evans from Las Vegas (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League.
Evans will wear No. 28 and will be available for today's game vs. Toronto.
Evans, 25, began the season with the Mets and went 0-for-3 before he was optioned to Las Vegas on April 5. The 5-10, 210-pounder was hitting .254 (30-118) with six doubles, nine homers, 19 runs scored and 23 RBIs in 35 games with Las Vegas this season.
Evans, who made his Major League debut last year, has hit .278 (10-for-36) in 22 career games with the Mets.
Céspedes has hit .255 (35-137) with six doubles, eight homers and 28 RBIs in 37 games for the Mets this year.
