Dodgers acquire pitcher Mike Bolsinger from Arizona
LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Dodgers today acquired right-handed pitcher Mike Bolsinger from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for cash considerations. Dodger President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman made the announcement. Bolsinger will be added to the 40-man roster. Left-handed pitcher Jarret Martin was designated for assignment to make room for the Illinois native.
Bolsinger, 26, appeared in 10 games (nine starts) for the Diamondbacks last season, going 1-6. He made his Major League debut on April 14 vs. the New York Mets, tossing 3.0 innings of relief and then made his first big league start on April 19 at Dodger Stadium. The 6'2 hurler recorded his first-career win in his next outing on April 24 at Wrigley Field, tossing 6.1 innings and limiting the Cubs to just one unearned run. He was 8-3 with a 3.93 ERA in 17 games (16 starts) for the Triple-A Reno Aces in 2014, striking out 88 batters in 91.2 innings pitched.
Bolsinger starred at the University of Arkansas and was drafted by Arizona in the 15th round of the 2010 First-Year Player draft. He attended McKinney North High School in Texas.
