Blue Jays claim Colabello
The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have claimed 1B/OF CHRIS COLABELLO off waivers from the Minnesota Twins.
COLABELLO, 31, posted a .229 average with 13 doubles, six home runs and 39 RBI in 59 games for Minnesota last season. The Framingham, Massachusetts native signed with the Twins as a free agent in 2012 and earned an International League (AAA) MVP and Rookie of the Year award in just his 2nd professional season after seven in the Can-Am League. In parts of two seasons, Colabello has 29 extra base hits, including 13 home runs in 114 Major League games.
