Braves sign Peter Moylan to two-year minor-league contract

Veteran right-hander will work as player/coach with Danville this season

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. - The Atlanta Braves have signed right-handed pitcher Peter Moylan to a two-year minor-league contract, with an invitation to attend Major League Spring Training in 2016.

Moylan, 36, underwent "Tommy John" surgery on his right elbow in March 2014 and will train in the Braves' minor-league camp this spring as he continues his rehabilitation. He will then transition into the role of player/coach with the Braves' Rookie-level Danville affiliate when their season opens in June.

The Australian native pitched for the Braves for parts of seven seasons from 2006 to 2012. His last Major League experience came in a 14-game stint for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2013. He has made 309 career appearances (all in relief) in his Major League career, with a 21-9 record, a 2.80 ERA and 213 strikeouts in 276 innings pitched.
