Red Sox announce roster moves
FORT MYERS, FL - Prior to today's game against the Twins, the Boston Red Sox made the following roster moves:
- Outfielder Bryce Brentz, third baseman/outfielder Garin Cecchini, and right-handed pitchers Heath Hembree and Zeke Spruill were optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket.
- Left-handed pitcher Henry Owens was reassigned to minor league camp.
- Right-handed pitcher Mitchell Boggs was released.
Executive Vice President/General Manager Ben Cherington made the announcements.
With these moves, the Red Sox now have 43 players in big league camp, including 32 players from the 40-man roster, and 11 non-roster invitees.
