Astros to celebrate Little League 2015 Opening Day at Community Leaders Parks on March 28

Community Leaders currently serves seven parks throughout Houston, with work on eighth park underway

HOUSTON, TX - Little League Baseball is celebrating Opening Day of the 2015 season on Saturday, March 28, and the Astros are joining in on the festivities at their Community Leaders parks throughout Houston. Astros Foundation Executive Director Twila Carter, Astros legend Jose Cruz and other Astros alumni and personnel will be on hand at several different parks throughout the day to wish the young ballplayers luck as they kick off the 2015 Little League season.

To date, the Astros Community Leaders program has renovated 18 fields in seven parks, with additional field renovations at an eighth park currently underway. Further refurbishments currently in progress at all existing Community Leaders fields include batting cages and shade covering for spectator bleachers. The Astros Community Leaders program provides over 2,000 children throughout the city of Houston a chance to play youth baseball and softball by supporting year-round maintenance to all fields, coaching clinics, complimentary tickets to Astros home games and special visits from Astros players and front office personnel.

Additionally, the Astros Community Leaders program is providing over 2,000 uniforms and Joe Morgan Swing Trainers to all of the leagues playing on Community Leaders fields this season. Community Leaders leagues have also participated in coaching and leadership clinics, and are receiving tickets to Astros Opening Day on April 6.
