Royals grant infielder Ryan Roberts unconditional release

SURPRISE, Ariz. (March 28, 2015) - The Kansas City Royals announced today that infielder Ryan Roberts has been granted his unconditional release. 

Roberts, 34, signed a minor league deal with the club on November 12 and appeared in 18 games this spring, batting .219 with a double, a triple and three RBI.

Following the move, the Royals have 35 active players in Major League Spring Training, which includes 27 players from the 40-man roster and eight non-roster invitees. The Royals also have 39 players on the 40-man roster.
