Astros Make Several Roster Moves

Three players to open season on DL; three optioned to Triple A; one designated for assignment

KISSIMMEE, FL - The Houston Astros have made several roster moves this morning affecting a total of seven players in Major League camp. Three players were placed on the 15-day Disabled List: right-handed pitcher Josh Fields (right groin strain), left-handed pitcher Brett Oberholtzer (left index finger blister) and right-handed pitcher Brad Peacock (right hip surgery). Three players were optioned to Triple A Fresno: left-handed pitcher Kevin Chapman, outfielder L.J. Hoes and first baseman Jon Singleton. Additionally, OF Alex Presley was designated for assignment. The announcements were made by Astros General Manager Jeff Luhnow.

The three DL stints will be backdated for Fields (March 27), Oberholtzer (March 31) and Peacock (March 30). An additional move to create a spot on the 40-man roster will be made prior to Opening Day.

The Astros, who are 11-10-4 thus far this Spring, will play their final Grapefruit League game in Florida today before flying to Corpus Christi tomorrow for an exhibition game vs. the Double A Corpus Christi Hooks. Houston will then host two exhibition games at Minute Maid Park vs. the Kansas City Royals this weekend (April 3-4) before hosting the Cleveland Indians in the Home Opener on Monday, April 6.
