Marlins Ayudan Launches New Program with Military Veterans, Kickin' it With the Fish

Recreational therapy kickball league featuring military veterans and Marlins Ayudan Blue Shirts kicks off today at Marlins Park.

MIAMI - The Miami Marlins launched a new program today, Kickin' It With The Fish. The program is a recreational therapy kickball league that features Veterans of our Armed Services, recovering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), playing alongside Marlins Ayudan Blue Shirts. This new initiative reflects the Marlins commitment to the wellness of the brave men and women who serve our country. The Marlins lead several military initiatives throughout the year at Marlins Park and have also participated in six overseas visits to the troops.

In addition to the most recent overseas military visit, which consisted of an eight-day tour of Oman, Qatar and United Arad Emirates, the Marlins coordinate a variety of military-friendly promotions and initiatives with various military-oriented organizations, such as GovX, Bunkers in Baghdad, Pros vs. G.I. Joes and Savannah's Soldiers. On Mondays during the 2015 season (excluding Opening Day), all active and retired military personnel, veterans, first responders, military civilians, and their spouses and children (up to four family members) can take advantage of complimentary tickets. The military outreach offerings of the Miami Marlins are a signature part of the team's commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility.

The inaugural Kickin' It With The Fish season kicks off today, and subsequent games will be played on Wednesdays when the Marlins play abroad. The championship game will take place on May 27, 2015 on the field at Marlins Park. On June 3, 2015, there will be a pregame, on-field ceremony recognizing the championship team. Veterans participating in the league will also receive two complimentary tickets to each Wednesday Marlins home game during the Kickin' It With The Fish season.
