White Sox make four roster moves

CHICAGO - Prior to tonight's game vs. Cleveland, the Chicago White Sox made the following four roster moves:

• Purchased the contract of LHP Carlos Rodon from Class AAA Charlotte;
• Recalled RHP Jake Petricka (right forearm strain) from his injury rehabilitation assignment at Charlotte and reinstated him from the 15-day disabled list.
• Placed RHP Javy Guerra on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to April 13) with right shoulder inflammation;
• Designated RHP Kyle Drabek for assignment.

Rodon, 22, is 1-0 with a 3.60 ERA (4 ER/10.0 IP) and 13 strikeouts in two starts with the Knights this season. The 6-foot-3, 235-pound Rodon walked four batters and limited opponents to a .216 (8-37) average.

He entered the season ranked by Baseball America as the No. 1 Prospect in the White Sox organization after being selected in the first round (third overall) of the 2014 draft out of North Carolina State University. 

Rodon combined to go 0-0 with a 2.92 ERA (8 ER/24.2 IP) and 38 strikeouts in nine games (six starts) over three stops last season in the Sox minor-league system. He will wear uniform No. 55.

Petricka, 26, was placed on the disabled list on April 5 (retroactive to March 27) with a right forearm strain. He went 1-6 with a 2.96 ERA (24 ER/73.0 IP), 14 saves and 55 strikeouts in 67 appearances as a rookie in 2014. Petricka led all major-league rookies in saves and ranked third in IP and appearances.

Drabek, 27, has gone 0-0 with a 5.06 ERA (3 ER/5.1 IP) in three relief appearances with Chicago this season after being claimed off waivers from Toronto on March 27.
