Yordano Ventura will drop appeal of suspension; begin serving tonight

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (April 30, 2015) - Kansas City Royals pitcher Yordano Ventura announced today that he is dropping the appeal of his seven-game suspension handed down by Major League Baseball on Saturday and will begin serving it with tonight's 7:10 p.m. game against the Detroit Tigers at Kauffman Stadium. Ventura was one of four Royals players to receive a suspension after an on-field incident at Chicago's U.S. Cellular Field April 23.

He will be eligible to return to action on Friday, May 8, when the Royals travel to Detroit to open a three-game series with the Tigers at 6:08 p.m. CT.
