Seattle Mariners Homestand Highlights May 8-17 OAK, SD, BOS

The Mariners start a 9-game homestand this Friday (May 8) against the Oakland Athletics. Here are some highlights.

Friday, May 8 OAK

  • Ceremonial First Pitch - Brady Olson, the North Thurston High School teacher whose quick actions prevented a possible tragedy when he tackled a student armed with a gun on school grounds.
  • Girls Night Out - Women 21-and up can get a ticket, Mariners cap and a free drink for one low price, courtesy of EQC. Tickets are $35 for Main or Club Level seats.

Saturday, May 9 OAK (6:10pm start)

  • Ceremonial First Pitch - Carrie Brownstein, Seattle native and founder of seminal rock band Sleater-Kinney (as an Evergreen State College student). Star of Portlandia, an Emmy and Peabody Award winning comedy series with Fred Armisen. A special online-only Marinerlandia ticket offer is available. $16 for View Level and $31 for Main Level. Tickets come with a Marinerlandia T-Shirt (with a bird on it, naturally).
  • Fernando Rodney Bobblehead Night - The first 20,000 fans through the gates will receive a Fernando Rodney bobblehead, courtesy of ROOT SPORTS.
  • Season ticket holder early gate opening at 3:10pm
  • Peanut Controlled Seating - Fans with peanut allergies can buy tickets to sit in three sections (View Level, 313-315) with a reduced risk of exposure to allergens. Tickets are $12 and must be purchased by May 8th.
  • Mariners Care Silent Auction of autographed memorabilia on the Main Level behind Section 128. Bidding is through the 6th inning.
  • Silver Bullet Saturday - Free Silver Bullet Saturday T-shirts for the first 400 fans in The 'Pen, courtesy of Coors Light. The 'Pen opens at 3:40pm with Happy Hour pizza, soda and beer prices until an hour before first pitch.

Sunday, May 10 OAK

  • Little League Day - All kids 14 and younger will get a pair of Robinson Cano wrist bands, presented by Aquafina. Little Leaguers will parade around the warning track from 11:30am-12:30pm. View Level tickets are available through Little League representatives for just $12.
  • Mother's Day - The first 10,000 moms (21 and up) through the gates get a sun hat courtesy of EQC.
  • Honorary Bat Girl - Breast cancer survivor Kathleen Sutton of Mill Creek will be recognized as the Mariners Honorary Bat Girl as part of Major League Baseball's League-wide initiative to increase breast cancer awareness while raising funds to support breast cancer research.

Monday, May 11 (Off Day)

  • 30th Annual Mariners Care Cycstic Fibrosis Golf Tournament at TPC at Snoqualmie Ridge. This year's tournament hosts are Dustin Ackley, Charlie Furbush and Danny Farquhar. The 18-hole tournament will be followed by a silent auction of sports memorabilia and other items, and a dinner and live auction. Since 1986 the tournament has raised approximately $5.3 million for cystic fibrosis research.

Tuesday, May 12 SD

  • Ceremonial First Pitch - Kenzi Novell, Miss Washington USA 2015, a 23-year old Spokane native and Gonzaga graduate. She will represent Washington in the Miss USA pageant on June 8 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
  • BECU Family Night - Select View Level seats for a low price. (See mariners.com/tickets for information on prices and ticket locations.)

Wednesday, May 13 SD

  • Ceremonial First Pitch - Katie Collier, University of Washington Women's Basketball forward who overcame leukemia.
  • Grand Slam Family Night - Fans can get a ticket, hot dog and Pepsi for one low price, courtesy of Safeco Insurance.

Thursday, May 14 BOS

  • Game time is 7:10pm.

Friday, May 15 BOS

TRAFFIC NOTE: Seattle Mariners fans traveling on I-90 to Seattle for the Mariners games this weekend, expect traffic delays east of Mercer Island due to a major construction project.

Beginning at 11pm Friday, May 15, the Washington State Department of Transportation will close westbound lanes of I-90 east of Mercer Island and detour traffic onto a single lane on the express lanes. Motorists are urged to consider using alternate routes such as I-5, I-405, or SR 520.

  • Mariners Hall of Famer Dan Wilson will join the ROOT SPORTS broadcast team for insights and commentary during the game.
  • Mariners Fedora Hat Night - The first 20,000 fans through the gates will receive a powder blue Mariners fedora.
  • College Night - College students with valid ID can get tickets for $15 each through an online-only offer (mariners.com/college). Happy Hour in The 'Pen starts 2 1/2 hours before first pitch with draught beers $6, pizza $2.75 by the slice and sodas for $2.25.
  • Salute to Japanese Baseball - Join the Mariners for this annual salute to Japanese baseball. Special ticket prices are available through an online-only offer: $15 for View Level (normally $20) and $30 for Main Level (normally $40).

Saturday May 16 BOS

  • Ceremonial First Pitch - NBA legend Bill Russell
  • National Anthem - Dierre Lopez, Seattle Opera Bass/Baritone
  • Turn Back the Clock Night and Salute to Negro Leagues - The Mariners and Boston Red Sox turn back the clock to 1946 and salute the trailblazers from the old Negro Leagues. Mariners players will wear uniforms of the Seattle Steelheads and the Red Sox will be dressed as Boston Royal Giants.
  • African American Heritage Night - Through a special online-only offer (mariners.com/africanamerican), fans can get a great price for the game and benefit Senior Services. Tickets are $20 for View Level and $35 for Main Level. NBA legend Bill Russell will throw out the ceremonial first pitch and there will be a pregame tribute to Herb Simpson, the last known surviving member of the Seattle Steelheads who died in January at the age of 94.
