Indians activate INF Mike Aviles from restricted list; option RHP Austin Adams to Columbus

CHICAGO, IL - The Cleveland Indians today announced the following roster moves relative to the Major League roster:

Activated INF MIKE AVILES from MLB Restricted List.

Optioned RHP AUSTIN ADAMS to Triple-A Columbus.

Aviles, 34, was on MLB's Family Medical Emergency List from May 8-15 and moved to the Restricted List May 16-17. He has appeared in 18 games with Cleveland this season, batting .288 (15-52) with 3 doubles, 2 homers, 4 RBI, 11 runs scored and an .834 OPS (.373OBP/.462SLG). Aviles will be in uniform for tonight's game in Chicago.

Adams, 28, was recalled Saturday from Columbus for his third stint of the season with Cleveland and has posted a 1.59 ERA (5.2IP, 2H, 1R-ER, 1HR, 3BB, 1SO) over 3 relief appearances. He has made 8 relief appearances for the Clippers, posting a 1-2 record and 5.68 ERA (6.1IP, 5H, 4R-ER, 7BB, 10SO).
