RHP Scott Feldman placed on DL

Astros starter will miss approx. six weeks after undergoing knee surgery this morning; RHP Michael Feliz recalled from Double A Corpus Christi

HOUSTON, TX - Astros right-handed pitcher Scott Feldman has been placed on the 15-day Disabled List after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his right knee this morning to repair a torn medial meniscus, General Manager Jeff Luhnow announced today.

Feldman sustained the injury in his last start (Tuesday at Baltimore) while fielding a ground ball. He earned the victory in that start, allowing just one run in 6.0 innings of work in the Astros 4-1 win. Feldman is 4-4 in 10 starts in 2015.

Right-handed pitcher Michael Feliz has been recalled from Double A Corpus Christi to replace Feldman on the Major League roster. Feliz, who is scheduled to arrive at Minute Maid Park today, will pitch out of the bullpen. This will be the first ML stint for the 21-year-old Feliz, who began the season at Class A Lancaster before being promoted to Corpus earlier this week.

Feliz was stellar in his one appearance for the Hooks, allowing just one hit and one run while tallying seven strikeouts in 4.0 innings of relief on Tuesday at Northwest Arkansas in a 4-1 win. He was 1-1 in eight appearances (six starts) at Lancaster with a 4.41 ERA (11ER/32.2IP) with 12 walks and 33 strikeouts. In nine overall minor league appearances, Feliz has 40 strikeouts in 36.2 innings of work.
