Brewers make three selections on day 1 of 2015 MLB Draft

Brewers to select 15th overall, 40th and 55th on Day 1.

The Milwaukee Brewers will make three selections on Day 1 of the First-Year Player Draft, which begins Monday evening at 6 p.m. CT. The team owns the 15th overall selection. The Brewers will also make a selections at #40 (Competitive Balance Round A) and #55 (second round).

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the First-Year Player Draft, which spans three days of activity from Monday through Wednesday and will take place at the MLB Network Studio 42 in Secaucus, New Jersey. Draft coverage will begin live on MLB Network and MLB.com at 5 p.m. CT Monday. The Brewers' first selection (#15) will take place at approximately 7:22 p.m. CT, pick #40 will take place at approximately 9:30 p.m. CT and pick #55 will take place at approximately 9:55 p.m.

Representing the Brewers at the MLB Network Studio will be former Brewers All-Star Ben Sheets and Senior Director - Baseball Operations Tom Flanagan. Sheets was selected by the Brewers in the 1st Round of the 1999 Draft (10th overall) and spent eight seasons with the team, from 2001-08, compiling an 86-83 record with a 3.72 ERA.

The Brewers have selected the 15th overall pick twice in team history: Tyrone Hill in 1991 and Jed Bradley in 2011. Other notable 15th overall picks include Devin Mesoraco (Reds, 2007), Stephen Drew (Diamondbacks, 2004), Scott Kazmir (Mets, 2002), Chase Utley (Phillies, 2000) and Chris Carpenter (Blue Jays, 1993).

The selection rotation is determined by the clubs' reverse order of finish at the close of the previous season. The Draft, which is comprised of 40 rounds, will continue on Tuesday at noon CT for Rounds 3-10. The Draft will resume on Wednesday for Rounds 11-40 at 11:00 a.m. CT and will continue through its conclusion.
