Mariners select RHP Nick Neidert 60th overall in the 2015 MLB Draft

Neidert was named a 2015 Perfect Game All-American.

SEATTLE, Wash. - The Seattle Mariners selected right-handed pitcher Nick Neidert with their first selection (60th overall pick) in the 2015 First-Year Player Draft, Director of Amateur Scouting Tom McNamara announced tonight.

Neidert (NYE-dert) played prep baseball at Peachtree Ridge High School in Lawrenceville, GA. As a senior at Peachtree Ridge he was named 7-AAAAAA All-Region. The 6-1, 185-pound right-hander was selected as a 1st-team All-American and Southeast All-Region 1st-team by Perfect Game in 2015. The 18-year-old signed a national letter of intent to play college baseball at the University of South Carolina.

The Mariners will have one more selection tonight with the 72nd pick of the draft as part of the Competitive Balance B selections. Seattle did not have a first round draft pick due to signing free agent Nelson Cruz during the offseason.

The 2015 Draft continues tomorrow with rounds 3-10 (starts at 10 am PT) and rounds 11-40 on Wednesday (9 am PT).
