A's Select 30 Players on Final Day of First-Year Player Draft

OAKLAND, Calif. - The Oakland A's selected 30 players on the third and final day of the 2015 First-Year Player Draft, the club announced today. The total included 26 college players and the A's drafted college athletes with 35 of their 40 picks overall. The breakdown includes 21 pitchers, five catchers, seven infielders and seven outfielders.

The A's drafted two players from the University of Nevada-Reno with local ties. Second baseman Ryan Howell was selected in the 15th round after hitting .312 with 17 home runs and 65 RBI in 56 games. He ranked sixth in Division I in home runs and 15th in RBI. Howell graduated from Heritage HS in Brentwood, Calif. and also attended Chabot College. With their 26th round selection, the A's chose catcher Jordan Devencenzi. He batted .294 with the Wolf Pack and is a graduate of West High School in Tracy, Calif.

The A's also selected outfielder James Terrell in the 11th round out of St. Patrick-St. Vincent HS in Vallejo, Calif. He batted .508 in 20 games as a senior and hit .405 in 85 career games with the Bruins.
