Angels conclude 2015 First-Year Player Draft

The Angels selected 30 players on day three of the 2015 First-Year Player Draft, as announced by Angels' Director of Scouting Ric Wilson. The Angels selected catcher Taylor Ward (Fresno State University) in the first round (26th overall) of the draft on Monday, June 8. Ward is the first catcher to be drafted in the first round by the Angels since Hank Conger (25th overall) in 2006.

Overall, the club selected 15 pitchers (11 RHP & four LHP) and 25 position players (four catchers, eight infielders & 13 outfielders). The Angels draft picks included 32 college players, three junior college players and five high school players. Jonah Dipoto, (38th round) is the son of Angels General Manager Jerry Dipoto and was one of the five high school players drafted this year by the Angels.

The Angels selected 11 players that either attended school in California or are originally from the state. Twelve players were selected from the East Coast and three draft picks hail from outside the continental United States: Ryan Vega (14th round; Manati, Puerto Rico), Tim Arakawa (23rd round; Honolulu Hawaii) and Conor Lillis-White (32nd round; Toronto, Ontario, Canada).
