Colorado Rockies agree to terms with infielder Tyler Nevin
Nevin was selected by the Rockies with the 38th overall pick in Competitive Balance Round A
DENVER - The Colorado Rockies announced today that the club has agreed to terms with infielder Tyler Nevin, the club's Competitive Balance Round A selection (38th overall) in the MLB 2015 First-Year Player Draft. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Nevin will be available to media upon request during today's 1:10 p.m. game vs. the Houston Astros.
The 18-year-old Nevin hit .409 with seven homers, 15 doubles, 41 runs, 22 runs batted in and 28 walks for Poway (Calif.) High School this season. MLB.com had Nevin ranked as the 49th-best prospect in the nation, while Baseball America listed him at No. 87.
Tyler is the son of former Major League infielder Phil Nevin, who was selected as the No. 1 overall pick by Houston in 1992 out of Cal State Fullerton and went on to a 12-year career that included stints with the Astros, Detroit, Anaheim, San Diego, Texas, Chicago Cubs and Minnesota.
