Rangers recall RHP Spencer Patton from Round Rock

Option OF Michael Choice to Round Rock

Arlington, Texas - The Texas Rangers announced prior to today's game that the club has recalled right-handed pitcher Spencer Patton (#44) from Triple-A Round Rock and optioned outfielder Michael Choice to Round Rock.

Patton has allowed 3 runs in 3.0 innings over 2 appearances spanning 2 stints with the Rangers this season: May 4-14 and June 7-10. He has spent the balance of the season at Round Rock, posting no record with a 0.78 ERA (2 ER/23.0 IP) in 22 relief appearances. He has converted all 10 save chances at Triple-A, holding opponents to a .157 (13-83) average with 8 walks and 31 strikeouts. His last outing with the Express was last night at New Orleans: 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 SO, 10 pitches-8 strikes. Patton's last game with Texas was May 9 at Tampa Bay.

Choice was recalled yesterday and appeared as a defensive replacement last night against Oakland, going 0-for-1 at the plate. Prior to his recall, Choice had spent the entire year with Round Rock, batting .242 with 7 home runs, 15 doubles, and 33 RBI in 61 games.

With today's moves, the Rangers are still at the 40-player limit on the club's major league roster.
