Pirates Homestand Highlights Friday, July 3 - Sunday, July 12, 2015

Fourth of July Baseball and Heritage Weekend Highlight Homestand

The Pirates return to PNC Park for the sixth homestand of the season and the final homestand before the 2015 All Star Break. The Bucs play host to the Cleveland Indians for a weekend series, a weekday three-game series with the San Diego Padres and four games with the St. Louis Cardinals.

This homestand is highlighted by University Days and Social Media Night on Wednesday, July 8, Heritage Weekend starting Thursday, July 9 and Sunday Night Baseball on Sunday, July 12.

Friday, July 3, 2015-Pirates vs. Cleveland Indians (7:05 p.m.)

  • Block Party: Tonight the Pirates and Baierl Automotive will host their Friday Block Party on Federal Street. Fans can party on the street with live music, featuring Sydney Hutchko, along with food and beer sales. Pirate's alumni Bruce Kison will be the special guest bartender at the Leinenkugel Bar that will be located on Federal Street.
  • Free Shirt Friday: Tonight the first 20,000 fans with paid admission to PNC Park will receive a Pirates Free Shirt Friday tee, compliments ROOT Sports.
  • Monarchs Barnstorming: Tonight the Pirates will host the Anderson Monarchs and a local team from the Josh Gibson Foundation as part of the Monarchs' barnstorming tour. The teams will take a tour of the Clemente Museum early in the day and will be guests of the Pirates for batting practice. Mo'ne Davis from the Anderson Monarchs will throw out a ceremonial first pitch. 
  • Bucco Dads: This week in Detroit, Pirates players and coaches dads joined the team for the road trip for what has become an annual event. As the Pirates Players & Coaches Annual Dads Trip comes to an end, the Pirates dads will throw the game time first pitch to their sons.
  • Pirates Charities Suite: Tonight Pirates Charities is hosting 7-year-old cancer patient Conner Patsilevas, from Moon Township in the Pirates Charities Suite. Connor is a huge Pirates fan and his family and friend will be guests of the Pirates during batting practice as he will have the opportunity to meet some of his favorite players.

 

Saturday, July 4, 2015-Pirates vs. Cleveland Indians (4:05 p.m.) - Independence Day

  • July 4th Unis: The Pirates and Indians will wear special caps and, for the first time, special jerseys for today's Independence Day. The caps have a blue or red base and feature the club's primary logo over an image of a waving American Flag. The jersey features stars within the Club's logo or lettering on the front and number on the back. All of MLB's net proceeds from the sale of those caps and jerseys will be donated to Welcome Back Veterans, which provides grants to university hospitals throughout the country to treat veterans suffering from PTSD or traumatic brain injury. 
  • Block Party: Start your Independence Day in downtown Pittsburgh with our Saturday Block Party. Join the Pirates pregame on Federal Street for a Saturday Block Party, featuring live entertainment, food, games and more! Pirate's alumni Bruce Kison will be the special guest bartender at the Leinenkugel Bar that will be located on Federal Street.
  • Flyover: Today two F-15 C fighter jets will participate in a pregame military flyover at PNC Park. The participating pilots are Pittsburgh natives and their planes are based out of the 122nd fighter squadron of New Orleans, La.
  • First Pitch: Navy serviceman Chris Guzelli, will throw out a ceremonial first pitch today. Guzelli the was last a guest of the Pirates on July 4, 2014 as he surprised his family with his return home in a pregame ceremony on the field at PNC Park.
  • Scratch and Win: Everyone is a winner with the special Scratch 'n Win presented by Eat 'n Park. All fans will receive a scratch-off ticket upon entering PNC Park with an opportunity to win one of several great prizes.

 

Sunday, July 5, 2015-Pirates vs. Cleveland Indians (1:35 p.m.)-Kids Day

  • Kids Day: Come down early and join the fun as the #1 Cochran Family Fun Zone will be open on Federal Street from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lined up outside PNC Park will be inflatable rides, face painting, information about the Bucaroos Kids Club, presented by Chick-fil-A and more. Stick around after the game where all kids are invited to "Run The Bases" presented by The Original Pizza Logs, on the field. 
  • Pirates Inflatable Chair: All kids 14 and younger will receive a Pirates Inflatable chair, courtesy of Huggies, Cottenelle, Viva Towels and Giant Eagle.
  • Kids Run the Bases: Kids attending today's game are invited to stick around after to run the bases on the field at PNC Park with the Kids Run the Bases, presented by the Original Pizza Logs.
  • VIP Day: Pirates and Pirates Charities Chairman Bob Nutting will host a VIP (Very Important Pirate) Party for the six local children who are currently battling cancer. The group will take part in a pregame reception in the Pirates Press Conference Room with players and coaches prior to taking the field for a ceremonial first pitch. The group will be special guests of Mr. Nutting and will have the opportunity to enjoy the day's game from the Pirates Charities Suite. Mr. Nutting will host a VIP Party each month during the season in order to provide deserving children with a night at the ballpark in true VIP-style. Children and their families will also enjoy great ballpark menu items provided by Levy Restaurants through their Levy Cares program.

 

Monday, July 6, 2015-Pirates vs. San Diego Padres (7:05 p.m.)

  • Paint Party on the Deck: Join the Pirates as they partner with Paint Monkey on Monday nights throughout the season, to create a Pirates masterpiece. Enjoy a pre-game painting session (canvases are pre-sketched) on the Pirates deck and stay for the game afterwards. Tuesday, July 7, 2015- Pirates vs. San Diego Padres (7:05 p.m.)

  • Pups in the Park: Fans can enjoy Bucco baseball with their pooch as the Pirates present one of 10 Pup Nights at PNC Park. Each ticket package (1 person & 1 dog) costs just $30 with additional human tickets available for $30 each.   • Neshannock Lancers: Tonight the Pirates will honor Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Class AA Champion, Neshannock High School baseball team in a pregame salute.
  • 4ALS: As part of the MLB ALS outreach, the Pirates will host three groups tonight at PNC Park. The ALS Association of Western PA, Muscular Dystrophy Association and ALS Therapy Development Institute will all be guests of the Pirates and will take part in a pregame salute on the field.

 

Wednesday, July 8, 2015- Pirates vs. San Diego Padres (7:05 p.m.)

  • University Days with West Virginia University: Tonight is second of the Pirates University Days of 2015 with West Virginia University (WVU). All fans who purchase University Day tickets will receive a ticket in one of two special sections and a free Pirates/WVU branded hat. This season the Pirates will host University Days on select Wednesday dates. Students, alumni and fans of local universities are invited to cheer on the Pirates together at PNC Park. As part of tonight's University Day with West Virginia University, the Pirates will host a Happy Hour at Corner Bar and North Shore Refreshment at Section 135.   • Play Ball: Tonight Pirates Charities and the Clint Seymour "Play Ball" Fund will host 10 matches from the Big Brothers Big Sisters program of Greater Pittsburgh. The Clint Seymour "Play Ball" Fund continues the legacy of Clint Seymour, who died tragically at the age of twenty-seven. This Fund will enable other children to experience the positive impact that the game of baseball had on the development of Clint's character and personality, by providing young baseball players with opportunities to nurture enduring character traits such as self-discipline, respect and self-esteem.
  • Disability Awareness Celebration: The Pirates, 21andable.org, United Way, and TRCIL would like to invite fans to PNC Park to bring people together with all types of disabilities for our Disability Awareness Celebrations. This is the second year the Pirates will celebrate and create awareness at three different games during the season with the final date being Wednesday, August 5, Adaptive Sports, Recreation and Fitness.   • National Mobile Museum: On Federal Street To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Pirates will host the American's Disability Rights Museum on Wheels on Federal Street. The American's Disability Rights on Wheels features 320 square feet of interactive learning activities and emerging technologies.
  • Social Media Night: Tonight is the second Social Media Night of 2015 at PNC Park, as fans who purchased tickets at pirates.com/socialmedia will have the opportunity to enter PNC Park early to watch Pirates batting practice from the left field bleachers, hang out in the BucSocial Media Lounge and get the Pirates NEW social media tee. Followers of Pirates on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and more will also have a chance to win prizes throughout tonight's game.
  • Lottery: The first 10,000 fans 18-years of age or older will receive a complimentary coupon good for one scratch-off ticket from the Pennsylvania Lottery.

 

Thursday, July 9, 2015- Pirates vs. St. Louis Cardinals (7:05 p.m.)

  • Zambelli Fireworks Night: Fans are encouraged to stay in their seats immediately following the game and enjoy an amazing fireworks display presented by Zambelli Fireworks International, courtesy of 84 Lumber.
  • Heritage Weekend Kick-off:  Swin Cash, founder of the Cash for Kids Foundation will throw a ceremonial first pitch before tonight's game. Kids from the Kids for Cash Foundation will be in attendance and will take part in a pre-game ceremony on the field.
  • Military Night: Come out to support and honor our brave American military service men and women. The Pirates will wear their Military Days camouflage Jerseys and hats.
  • 50/50 Raffle: Today's Pirates Charities 50/50 Raffle, supported by Rivers Casino, will benefit the It's About the Warrior Foundation.
  • On Field Military Ceremony: As part of today's Military Day efforts, representatives from It's About the Warrior Foundation will be honored during a pregame on-field ceremony and hosted in the Pirates Charities Suite. In addition, Pittsburgh Brewing Company will donate $12,000 to It's About the Warrior in a pregame ceremony.
  • Bunkers in Baghdad: The Pirates have teamed up with Bunkers in Baghdad, a national organization that collects new and slightly used golf equipment to send to troops overseas. The group will be collecting golf equipment on Federal Street prior to tonight's game from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Everyone who donates to the Bunkers in Baghdad on Federal Street will receive a special $25 coupon from Dick's Sporting Goods.   • Heritage Weekend: Today beginning at 11:30 a.m. the Pirates will host a sports Luncheon in the Lexus Club at PNC Park. McKeesport native Swin Cash, founder of the Kids for Cash foundation, is scheduled to be the guest speaker as tickets are 65$ and include lunch, a Pirates gift bag and door prize drawings.   • Miracle League Fantasy Camp: Today from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Pirates Charities and Baseball Fantasy Camp for Kids partner to host a Miracle League Fantasy Camp for kids. The event will take place at the Miracle League of Southwestern PA in Cranberry Township at the Dick's Sporting Goods Sportsplex at Graham Park. Pirates players and coachesi will be in attendance to assist with teaching fundamentals and each participating player will receive a custom Pirates Jersey, a Pirates cap, and a Pirates gift bag. Baseball Fantasy Camp for Kids gives youngsters with physical challenges the opportunity to improve their baseball skills by participating in a one day clinic hosted by their major league heroes.

  • Jefferson Awards Foundation: Today the the Pirates and Jefferson Awards Foundation will host a pregame on-field ceremony to honor youth from Pittsburgh's Brashear High School. The Jefferson Awards Foundation is proud to recognize The Pittsburgh Public Schools' own Brashear High School Students In Action (SIA) team, who was selected as the 2015 Pittsburgh regional recipient for outstanding service by a high school team. The team represented Pennsylvania at the Jefferson Awards National Ceremony and Gala Event in Washington, DC, on June 17 and 18.

Pirates Charities 50/50 Raffles

The Pirates Charities 50/50 Raffle, supported by Rivers Casino, is back for the 2015 season. The 50/50 Raffles will take place during each Pirates home game throughout the season. Raffle ticket prices are three (3) tickets for $5, 10 tickets for $10 and 40 tickets for $20 with all proceeds benefiting Pirates Charities. Raffle ticket sales close after the last out in the sixth inning. The winning number will be drawn, announced in the 8th inning and the winner will receive 50 percent of the total pot. Winning numbers will also be posted on pirates.com/5050raffle within three business days.
