Pirates to now host two Sunday night games in August

August 23 game added to ESPN national television broadcast

The Pittsburgh Pirates have announced the Sunday, August 23 game vs. the San Francisco Giants was selected this morning by ESPN for their Sunday Night Baseball telecast. First pitch time for the game is now moved from the originally scheduled 1:35 p.m. ET to the new 8 p.m. ET as Pittsburgh will once again be on display to a national audience.

Yesterday, a game time change for the Sunday, August 9 game vs. Los Angeles Dodgers was announced as the Pirates were selected to host the Sunday night showcase and now ESPN has selected the Sunday, August 23 game vs the San Francisco Giants. 

This will make four times in the past two seasons the Pirates will be featured on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball at PNC Park and the third time this season the team plays host to the Sunday night showcase (Also Sunday, July 12 vs. St. Louis Cardinals).

Remaining Sunday Night Baseball telecasts at PNC Park (each game with a scheduled 8 p.m. start):

  • Sunday, August 9 vs Los Angeles Dodgers
  • Sunday, August 23 vs San Francisco Giants

The Pittsburgh Steelers game vs. the Green Bay Packers scheduled for 8 p.m. Sunday, August 23 at Heinz Field was rescheduled for 1 p.m.

Due to the game time changes several of the scheduled Kids Day activities will be cancelled, including the pregame #1 Cochran Family Fun Zone on Federal Street and the postgame "Kids Run the Bases," presented by the Original Pizza Logs.
