Braves Announce Tentative 2016 Schedule

Today the Atlanta Braves and Major League Baseball released their tentative schedules for the 2016 season. A finalized schedule with start times will be released at a later date in the offseason. 

The 2016 season will mark the Braves' final campaign at Turner Field before they move to SunTrust Park in 2017. The season is slated to open on Monday, April 4, against Washington, with a two-game set versus the Nationals (April 4 & 6). The Braves will continue their opening homestand with a three-game series against the St. Louis Cardinals, April 8-10.

In addition to the Nationals and Cardinals, the Braves' April home schedule will feature contests against the Los Angeles Dodgers (April 19-21), New York Mets (April 22-24) and Boston Red Sox (April 25-26).

The Braves play a total of eight interleague series (20 total interleague games), with four series (10 games) taking place at Turner Field. The Braves' home interleague portion of the 2016 campaign opens with a two-game series against the Red Sox, April 25-26, and also includes a season-ending weekend series against the Detroit Tigers, Sept. 30-Oct. 2. The Braves will also play host to the Cleveland Indians (June 27-29) and the Minnesota Twins (August 16-17). Atlanta will play four road interleague series, including a two-game series at Boston, April 27-28. The Braves' other American League road opponents include the Kansas City Royals (May 13-15), the Chicago White Sox (July 8-10), and the Twins (August 16-17). 

The overall home portion of the 2016 schedule includes 10 games each against National League East Division rivals Miami, New York and Philadelphia, and nine games against Washington. The home portion of the schedule includes a total of 39 games against National League East opponents, 16 games against the National League Central Division, 16 against the National League West Division and 10 contests against American League teams.

The overall home slate features 47 games played at Turner Field prior to the All-Star break and 34 home games following the break. The Braves will play 42 games on the road prior to the Mid-Summer Classic, compared to 39 road games in the "second-half" of the season.

The Braves will close out the regular season with a six-game homestand. The last two series will be versus Philadelphia (September 27-29) and Detroit (September 30-October 2).
