Rays and Helios Education Foundation announce 2015 scholars

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.- On Sunday, September 13, the Tampa Bay Rays and Helios Education Foundation recognized a new class of scholars for 2015-16 during a pregame presentation at Tropicana Field. Beginning in 2012, the Rays and Helios Education Foundation teamed up to provide $1 million in college scholarships for students participating in Take Stock in Children in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Sarasota, Manatee and Pasco counties over a five-year period.

The new scholars were joined by their Take Stock in Children mentors and representatives from Helios Education Foundation and the Rays.

The Rays and Helios Education Foundation partnership provides selected students Take Stock in Children scholarships, a program aimed at giving students the financial resources and mentorship support they need to successfully achieve a postsecondary education at any Florida state college.

Take Stock in Children provides a unique opportunity for low-income and at-risk students, many from minority families, to escape the cycle of poverty through education. The program offers students college scholarships, mentorship and hope for a better life.
