Braves Acquire RHP Jose Ramirez from Mariners

The Atlanta Braves today announced the club acquired right-handed pitcher Jose Ramirez from the Seattle Mariners for a player to be named later and/or cash considerations.

Ramirez, 25, spent time with both Seattle and the New York Yankees last season, going 1-0 with a 12.91 ERA (11 ER/7.2 IP) in a combined eight games out of the bullpen. The 6-1, 200-pound native of the Dominican Republic went 1-0 with an 11.57 ERA (6 ER/4.2 IP) in five games for the Mariners after being acquired in a trade on July 30 that sent infielder Dustin Ackley to the Yankees. Ramirez opened the season with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, and was recalled to New York twice before the trade. He also spent time with Triple-A Tacoma, compiling a 4-1 mark, 10 saves and a 4.16 ERA (29 ER/62.2) in 41 minor league games.

Originally signed by the Yankees as a non-drafted free agent in 2007, Ramirez made his Major League debut with New York in 2014. He appeared in eight games that season and for his career, Ramirez is 1-2 with an 8.66 ERA (17 ER/17.2 IP) in 16 games.
