Detroit Tigers to Host Dinner and Shopping Spree for Underprivileged Children

Dan Dickerson, Rod Allen and PAWS to appear

DETROIT - In celebration of the holiday spirit, the Detroit Tigers will treat nearly 50 children and teens in need from HAVEN and Variety, the Children's Charity to a special holiday dinner at Lakeside Grille at Macy's in Oakland Mall followed by a surprise holiday shopping spree inside Oakland Mall on Tuesday, December 8.

Tigers broadcaster Dan Dickerson and his wife, Lori Anne, along with FOX Sports Detroit broadcaster Rod Allen and his wife, Adrian, former Tigers pitching coach Jeff Jones and his wife, Paula, and Detroit's favorite mascot PAWS will join the youth and their families for a traditional holiday dinner at Lakeside Grille at Macy's in the Oakland Mall, followed by the shopping spree.

As a result of contributions from FOX Sports Detroit broadcaster Rod Allen, Tigers front office staff members and Delaware North Companies Sportservice, each child will be surprised with a gift card to be used towards gifts of their choice and enjoy an evening of holiday cheer.

The holiday feast begins at 5:30 p.m. at Lakeside Grille at Macy's in Oakland Mall in Troy, MI. The shopping spree will begin at 6:30 p.m. inside Oakland Mall.

HAVEN is a comprehensive program for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault that provides shelter, counseling, advocacy and educational programming, while Variety is a children's charity simply helping kids regardless of need. Annually 50,000 people are served between the two charities.
