Indians Name Adam Everett Special Assistant to Baseball Operations

The Cleveland Indians today announced the club has named ADAM EVERETT Special Assistant to Baseball Operations. 

 

Everett, 34, recently concluded his 11-year Major League playing career after appearing in 34 games with Cleveland in 2011. Adam compiled a career fielding percentage of .976 in 3,621 chances (89 errors) over 880 Major League games, mostly at shortstop.  He earned National League Rawlings Gold Glove Award votes in each season between 2003 and 2006 while with the Houston Astros. Adam finished his Major League career with a batting average of .242 (668-2758) and also appeared in 19 post-season games in 2004 and 2005 with Houston.

 

The Austell, GA native was originally selected by the Chicago Cubs in the fourth round of the 1995 June draft (did not sign) before playing collegiately at North Carolina State and the University of South Carolina. He was then drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the first round (12th overall) of the 1998 First-Year Player Draft before being acquired from Houston prior to the 2000 season. 

 

As Special Assistant, Adam will be in uniform most of spring training and will be active in infield instruction and player and staff development in both Major and Minor League camps in Goodyear. During the regular season he will provide infield instruction and evaluation within the Indians Player Development system.
