Indians activate INF Asdrubal Cabrera from Bereavement List

CLEVELAND  –  The Cleveland Indians today announced the club has activated INF ASDRUBAL CABRERA from the Bereavement List.  To allow room on the 25-man roster the Indians optioned LHP NICK HAGADONE to the AAA Columbus Clippers following yesterday’s game at Oakland.

Cabrera is hitting .282 (11-39) with 3 doubles, 2 home runs, 3RBI and 8 runs scored in 8 games (.846OPS) thus far in 2012. Asdrubal returned to his native Venezuela after a death in his family on April 16 and was on the Bereavement List from April 16-23, missing the last 6 games of the Tribe’s recent roadtrip in Seattle and Oakland.

Hagadone recorded an ERA of 2.70 (3.1IP, 2H, 1R/ER, 1BB, 4K) in 3 appearances with Cleveland after being recalled on April 17.  He returns to Triple-A Columbus where he has made four (4) scoreless relief appearances, covering 5.1 innings (2H, 0R, 1BB, 5K, .125AVG).
