Mets reinstate infielder Ronny Cedeno from DL; Option infielder/outfielder Vinny Rottino to Buffalo

FLUSHING, N.Y., May 11, 2012 – The New York Mets announced the club returned infielder Ronny Cedeno from his rehabilitation assignment and reinstated him from the 15-Day Disabled List. The team also optioned infielder/outfielder Vinny Rottino to Buffalo (AAA) of the International League.

Cedeno, 29, was placed on the 15-Day Disabled List with a left intercostal strain on April 21.  He is hitting .250 (3-12) with one double and one RBI in 10 games with the Mets this year.

The 6-0, 196-pounder went 0-4 last night while playing nine innings at shortstop for St. Lucie (A) of the Florida State League in a 4-3 win at Brevard County.  It was his only major league rehabilitation game.

Rottino, 32, went 0-4 in three games, one start, with the Mets.  The team selected his contract on May 4 from Buffalo.
