Where's Chorizo?

2,000 Chorizo yard ornaments available to fans this morning in scavenger hunt surrounding Miller Park to welcome “Spring Madness”

MILWAUKEE -- Last year it was Bernie Brewer, and now Chorizo has gone missing and only Brewers fans can help find him. It’s a version of the 2011 promotion that fans will never forget – “Where’s Bernie?” – but with a few new twists.

Here’s how it works: In preparation for “Spring Madness” (see below), Chorizo has been hard at work.  Not only has he gone missing from Miller Park the last two days (including missing Sunday’s Race), but he has spent the hours mapping and planting over 2,000 Chorizo lawn ornaments in the grass areas surrounding Miller Park and its parking lots.

Beginning at 5 a.m. this morning, fans may come to Miller Park to pick up their very own Chorizo lawn ornament.  For fans finding an ornament, it’s theirs to keep, but there is a STRICT LIMIT of one ornament per person.  The scavenger hunt will continue until all ornaments have been claimed, and Brewers staff will be in place in all planting locations to monitor the scavenger hunt activities.

The allotment of Chorizo ornaments is expected to be claimed quickly, and there is no guarantee that everyone coming to Miller Park in the morning will leave with one of the prizes.

Each lawn ornament will be affixed with a pouch that includes game tickets for a Spring Madness game, set for May 21 through May 23 at Miller Park.  The Brewers will host the San Francisco Giants during Spring Madness, and Brewers fans can save 50% on most all tickets $38 or less. In addition, Klement’s hot dogs and small Pepsi products are just $1 each for all three games.

There are also three “Grand Prize” ornaments.  These prizes include:

  1. an immediate breakfast with Hall-of-Fame pitcher Rollie Fingers in the Helfaer Field Atrium
  2. an opportunity for four to watch batting practice from the field with one person tossing a ceremonial first pitch
  3. a home visit from the Klement’s Famous Racing Sausages for a tailgate party with supplies provided by Pepsi, Klement’s and Miller at a mutually agreed upon date and event.

“Obviously the response from fans to last year’s ‘Where’s Bernie’ event was off the charts, and while we needed to adjust some of the logistics, we knew that this was something we wanted to do again,” said Brewers Chief Operating Officer Rick Schlesinger.

PLEASE NOTE: Parking for Tuesday’s scavenger hunt is only available in the Molitor Lot, which is located directly north of I-94.  Fans should enter the Molitor Lot from Blue Mound Road and walk down

Yount Drive to participate in the scavenger hunt.

In addition, there will be an online dutch auction at brewers.com, beginning on Thursday, May 17 and ending on Thursday, May 31 at 5 p.m., in which fans can bid on five Chorizo lawn ornaments. The initial bid starts at $40. Through the dutch auction, the five highest bidders will each receive a lawn ornament and they will all pay the amount of the fifth-highest bid.

Further information on the promotion can also be found by going to brewers.com/whereschorizo.
