Marlins acquire outfielder Justin Ruggiano from Houston Astros
The Miami Marlins today announced that they have acquired OF Justin Ruggiano from the Houston Astros in exchange for C Jobduan Morales. The announcement was made by Marlins President of Baseball Operations Larry Beinfest.
Ruggiano, 30, is batting .325 (38x117) in 39 games this season for triple-A Oklahoma City of the Pacific Coast League, with five home runs and 29 RBI. A right-handed batter and fielder, Ruggiano played 98 games in the Majors for Tampa Bay from 2007-11.
Morales batted .275 (52x189) in 55 games between single-A Greensboro and Jamestown last season. He has spent the 2012 campaign at extended spring training.
