Lake County RHP Mason Radeke named Indians Minor League Player of the Week

CLEVELAND, OH-The Cleveland Indians today announced that Lake County RHP MASON RADEKE has been named the Indians Minor League Player of the Week for June 4-11. The Player of the Week award recognizes an individual performance from within the Indians Player Development System and will be announced each Tuesday through the end of the minor league baseball season. All players from the Tribe's minor league affiliates are eligible for the weekly award.

Radeke, who will turn 22 tomorrow (June 13), went 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA (8.1IP, 4H, 0R/0ER, 1BB, 13K) in a pair of long relief appearances this week to lower his season mark from 4.08 to 3.16. On June 4th, he worked 4.0 scoreless innings and notched a career-high 8 strikeouts in Lake County’s 4-3, 13-inning win over visiting Fort Wayne, allowing just 2 hits and a single walk. Radeke also tossed 4.1 scoreless innings on June 9 in a 6-5 loss at Lansing, holding the Lugnuts to 2 hits while striking out 5. The right-hander has gone 3-1 with one save and a 3.16 ERA (37.0IP, 31H, 14R/13ER, 10BB, 41K) in 14 games out of the Captains bullpen overall this season.

The Santa Barbara, CA native was the Indians’ 35th round selection in the 2011 First-Year Player Draft out of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.  In 2011, he made 9 starts for Mahoning Valley, going 2-0 with a 4.53 ERA (43.2IP, 44H, 23R/22ER, 15BB, 30K).
