Padres place RHP Anthony Bass on 15-Day DL and reinstate INF/OF Andy Parrino from 15-Day DL

The San Diego Padres today announced they have placed right-handed pitcher Anthony Bass on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 21, with right shoulder inflammation and have reinstated infielder/outfielder Andy Parrino from the 15-day disabled list. Executive Vice President/General Manager Josh Byrnes made the announcement.

Bass, 24, made his first career Opening Day roster for the Padres this season.  In 16 games, 14 starts, for San Diego this year, he has gone 2-7 with a 4.70 ERA (44 ER/84.1 IP) and 72 strikeouts against 33 walks. The right-hander began the season with two relief outings before making his first start of the season on April 12, the Padres fifth pitcher to start a game this year.  Bass made his Big League debut for the Padres last season and has gone 4-7 with a 3.60 ERA (53 ER/132.2 IP) and 96 strikeouts against 54 walks in 43 Big League games, 17 starts, in his career.

 Parrino, 26, was placed on the disabled list on June 3 with a right wrist ligament sprain.  In 39 games for San Diego this year, he has hit .176 (16-for-91) with four doubles, one home run, three RBI and seven runs scored.  In six games on a rehabilitation assignment with Triple-A Tucson, he hit .375 (9-for-24) with two doubles, a triple, one RBI and three runs scored.  The switch-hitter has started 24 games for San Diego this year, with 18 at shortstop, five at second base and one at third base.  Parrino made his Major League debut for the Padres last season and made his first career Opening Day roster this year. He has hit .178 (24-for-135) with five doubles, one home run, seven RBI and 10 runs scored in 63 Big League games in his career.
