Mets make four roster moves

FLUSHING, N.Y., June 24, 2012 – The New York Mets today announced the team returned infielder Ruben Tejada and righthanded pitcher Ramon Ramirez from their rehabilitation assignments and reinstated them from the 15-Day Disabled List. In order to make room on the active roster, the club optioned infielder Jordany Valdespin to Buffalo (AAA) of the International League and placed righthanded pitcher Frank Francisco on the 15-Day Disabled List, retroactive to June 23, with a left oblique strain.

Tejada, 22, went to the 15-Day Disabled List on May 7 with a right quad strain.  In his last four major league rehabilitation games, the shortstop hit .250 (4-16) with three runs scored, one double and two RBI.  Tejada hit .305 (32-105) with eight RBI in 27 games before the injury forced him to the DL.

Ramirez, 30, went 2-1 with one save and a 4.78 ERA (14 earned runs/26.1 innings) in 22 games before landing on the 15-Day Disabled List on May 31 with a strained right hamstring.  The righthander allowed six runs in 2.2 innings during three major league rehabilitation games.

Valdespin, 24, hit .222 with two home runs and 12 RBI in 33 games for the Mets.

Francisco, 32, saved 18 games and went 1-3 with a 4.97 ERA in 31 appearances.
