Miami Marlins to honor U.S. Military on Sunday, July 1

Outback Steakhouse Military Appreciation Day to feature ceremonies, activities and ticket discount for military personnel

MIAMI – On Sunday, July 1, the Miami Marlins will honor our U.S. servicemen and women with Outback Steakhouse Military Appreciation Day. The Marlins will conclude a nine-game homestand and their first half home schedule at Marlins Park against the Philadelphia Phillies, with the first pitch scheduled for 1:10 PM. Ballpark gates open at 11:30 AM.

During pregame ceremonies, a group from the Wounded Warrior Project will be participating in a meet-and-greet with Marlins players, then enjoy the game from a suite. A Wounded Warrior will also throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to a Full Color Guard presenting the U.S. flag for the National Anthem.

Marlins players, coaches and staff have signed a banner to thank our troops and the banner will be displayed on the West Plaza pregame. Throughout the game, the banner will be displayed on the Promenade Level behind home plate. In addition, during a designated inning break fans will be asked to participate in a live “salute” to troops stationed at a U.S. base in Kandahar, Afghanistan. The signed banner will then be sent to the base in Kandahar.

“As part of our ongoing commitment and dedication to honor the brave men and women who tirelessly and selflessly defend our freedom, the Miami Marlins and Outback Steakhouse are proud to host Military Appreciation Day at Marlins Park this Sunday,” said Matt Britten, Marlins Director of Marketing and Promotions. “We can never repay them for their service to our country, but this is one way that we can we say ‘thank you’ and that we appreciate the sacrifices that they make every day.”
