Blue Jays extend agreement with Lansing

The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have extended their player development contract with the LANSING LUGNUTS through the 2014 season.

"Everything about Lansing makes this an excellent arrangement for us," said Blue Jays Director of Minor League Operations Charlie Wilson. "From our relationship with the Lugnuts' front office to the atmosphere and facilities at Cooley Law School Stadium, it was an easy decision to continue our connection to Minor League baseball in Mid-Michigan."

Affiliated with Toronto since 2005, The Lugnuts have produced 40 Midwest League All-Stars; more than 550 victories; five playoff berths, including a 2011 trip to the MWL Championship Series; and 22 Major Leaguers.

“We are proud to continue our partnership with the Toronto Blue Jays,” said Lansing Lugnuts Co-Owner Tom Dickson.  “They’re a top notch Major League organization who are outstanding to work with, and it’s a pleasure watching the Lugnuts consistently showcase some of the brightest talent in all of the Minor Leagues.”

The 2012 edition of the Lugnuts, currently boasts the best record in the Midwest League at 70-37.  The team set franchise records for most wins at the start of a season and most victories in one half, on their way to clinching the 1st half Eastern Division title and a Midwest League postseason invitation.
