Colorado Rockies to host Davita Kidney Rock 5K Run/Walk at Coors Field

The Colorado Rockies are excited to partner with DaVita, a Fortune 500 kidney care company headquartered in Denver, to host the DaVita Kidney Rock at Coors Field on August 11th. The 5k run and walk aims to educate the community about kidney disease and will be offering kidney screenings to all registered participants at no-cost.

The timed 5k run/walk will begin at 8:15 a.m. on Saturday August 11 and start in front of Coors Field and winding through Lodo and ending inside Coors Field. Funds raised from the race will support the independent non-profit Bridge of Life – DaVita Medical Missions, which brings life saving treatment, education and hope to communities around the world where there is limited access to dialysis.

“We are excited to partner with DaVita,” said Dick Monfort, owner/chairman and CEO Colorado Rockies Ownership Group. “By combining two great Denver organizations we are able to bring fun and health education to our community.”

The run will be emceed by the voice of Coors Field Reed Saunders and feature special guests Mayor Michael Hancock and fan-favorite Dinger. Following the race, participants will enjoy refreshments, live music, a kids’ zone with games, a health expo with kidney screenings, and a costume contest.

“It is an honor to be the first outside group to have this relationship with the Rockies,” said Kent Thiry CEO of DaVita. “This will allow us to bring more fun, more excitement and ultimately reach our goal of educating more Coloradans about kidney health.”

Rockies fans will also benefit from DaVita Day at the Rockies on August 4th were the first 20,000 fans will receive a free Todd Helton t-shirt.

Registration for the DaVita Kidney Rock until August 10 is $35 for adults, $20 for youth (under 18), and $30 for seniors (60 and over). Race-day registration will be available starting at 7:00 a.m.; registration fees will increase by $5 for those who have not pre-registered. A family four-pack is also available.
