Tigers victory over Yankees is second most-watched Tigers game this season for FOX Sports Detroit

Tuesday's Tigers game achieves 14.4 household rating in metro Detroit

FOX Sports Detroit attracted its 10th largest viewing audience all-time for the Tigers' 6-5 victory over the New York Yankees on Tuesday night.

"The Tigers are playing incredibly exciting baseball and fans and sponsors across Michigan can't get enough," said Greg Hammaren, Senior Vice President and General Manager of FOX Sports Detroit. "Watching this team is so much fun. They're delivering Olympic-size audiences virtually every night."

Based on data received from Nielsen Media Research, the 7:00-10:30 p.m. telecast registered a 14.4 household rating in the Detroit metro area, an average of 266,071 homes tuned in over the telecast (one rating point equals approximately 18,427 households). The telecast peaked at a 20.5 rating (368,000 households) from 10:15-10:30 p.m. as the Tigers were on their way to a 6-5 victory to tie its longest single-season home-win streak since June 15 - July 15, 2006 with 10. The 20.5 rating is the highest peak rating for Tigers games of all time.

"Tigers fans are demonstrating their incredible passion for the team as evidence by this historic television rating from Tuesday night," said Duane McLean, Tigers' Executive Vice President, Business Operations. "It's a tribute to the team's performance on the field, and the compelling storylines presented each telecast by FOX Sports Detroit. You have to tip your cap to the Tigers fans watching on TV, coming out to support the Club at Comerica Park, and even on the road. They've been tremendous."

Tuesday's viewership ranks No. 3 on the network's all-time Tigers' ratings list, trailing a dual-telecast game with WJBK FOX2 for opening day this season against the Boston Red Sox (15.3 rating on April 5, 2012) and a game against the Minnesota Twins (15.6 rating on Sept. 30, 2009).

FOX Sports Detroit is averaging a 9.10 HH rating for 100 Tigers games this season, 51.7% greater than the 6.0 rating for the first 100 Tigers telecasts in 2011.
