Orioles recall RHP Steve Johnson and RHP Miguel Socolovich from Triple-A Norfolk

INF Ryan Flaherty placed on 15-day DL

The Orioles announced today that they have recalled RHPs STEVE JOHNSON and MIGUEL SOCOLOVICH from Triple-A Norfolk and placed INF RYAN FLAHERTY on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 2, with a bacterial infection. Johnson will make his first major league start tonight against the Seattle Mariners.

A native of Baltimore and son of former Orioles pitcher and current MASN analyst DAVE JOHNSON, Johnson is 4-8 with a 2.86 ERA (91.1IP, 29ER) in 19 games (14 starts) for the Tides this season. This is his third stint with the Orioles. He made his major league debut on July 15 against the Detroit Tigers at Camden Yards, allowing one earned run on one hit in 2.0 innings of work.

Johnson's start tonight comes exactly 23 years to the day after his father made his first career start in Baltimore and picked up his first major league win in a complete-game outing against the Minnesota Twins.

Socolovich has pitched to a 9.00 ERA (7.0IP, 7ER) in four appearances over two stints with the Orioles this season.

Flaherty has batted .205 (24-117) in 60 games for the Orioles.
