White Sox place Paul Konerko on seven-day disabled list

CHICAGO -- Prior to tonight's game vs. Oakland, the Chicago White Sox placed first baseman Paul Konerko on the seven-day list disabled list with a concussion.

Konerko suffered the concussion in the seventh inning on Tuesday vs. Kansas City when he was struck by Jarrod Dyson’s elbow as he was covering first base.

Konerko is hitting .316 (119-377) with 18 home runs and 54 RBI in 101 games this season.  He ranks sixth in the American League in on-base percentage (.388) and is tied for sixth in average.

This marks the first time the White Sox have used the seven-day disabled list.

The Sox will make a corresponding roster move prior to Saturday’s game vs. the A's.
